Friday 13th April

We chose to create a video about nature studies to allow us to explore the local environment. The content of the video surrounds an instructional theme, detailing steps to follow using interactive activities. These include activities such as locating a pinecone whilst follwing the route on the treasure map.

We made the video using two pieces of software, iMovie and Glogster. The incorpration of both enabled us to embed the videos on to a treasure map. The layout created emphasised our instructional theme. We would of like the videos to play as soon as the scene is selected however this created technical problems and therefore goes through youtube. Ulf managed to make sure that when the clip is clicked on the video goes straight to full screen. This enables less clicking whilst introducing the film. Unfortunalty we were unable to make it how we visioned it to be, we wanted the map to been shown after each clip automatically but we need to exit each clip after showing it allow the sequence to follow in the order needed.

Kolmapäev ehk Wednesday

We went filming to Paralepa beach - our video is going to be about nature study. By that we mean we would like to make an outdoor educational video.
Ulf was the operator, I (Mari), Camilla and Amy were the pupils who were running and walking around on the beach and collecting different things like pinecones, swan feathers etc. It didn't take a long time, so we had time to import our clips to the computer.
Tomorrow, Thursday, we are going to edit our clips into a video - I (Mari) am not sure how it will go but we have many good teachers who can help us! :)

By the way... Camilla is a very good drawer!

9.April, day 1

Why use videos in learning processes?

These are the words that describes why we would choose videos in the classroom:

Reliable : Source of assessment because it provides a description of what the children are able to do.

Differentiation : Accessible to every child, despite their ability.

Society: Incorporation of today's society within children's education. This will enable us to keep up to date with the modern society and use of technology, allowing children to experiment with equipment and develop their skills whilst using different devices.

Motivation : Allowing children to incorporate their imagination and creativity in an inspirational manner. By using a range of video devices it will promote the children's motivation by including visual elements that intrest them.
